Some follow-up questions on how native speakers of English pronounce the sounds written ‘tr’ and ‘dr’

Thank you to all who have responded to the main survey. These follow-up questions are directed specifically at those who:

• pronounce the ‘t’ in ‘true’, ‘retreat’ and ‘nitrate’ with the sound ‘ch’ /tʃ/ as in ‘chin’

AND

• pronounce the ‘d’ in ‘draw’, ‘dramatic’ and ‘carbohydrate’ with the sound ‘j’ /dʒ/ as in ‘jog’

For each of the 28 words below, please indicate how you would normally pronounce the underlined ‘t’ or ‘d’, in natural conversation. Focus on pronunciation rather than spelling.

The results of the survey will be discussed (eventually) in a forthcoming video. THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING!
